  Congratulation to Dr. Srdjan D. Antic who  receives NARSAD Young Investigator Award.  National Alliance for Research on Schizophrenia and Depression (NARSAD) will support Dr. Antic’s research on the role of the brain neurotransmitter dopamine in the regulation of calcium influx in nerve cells .  Link >>
     
Congratulations to UCHC Neuroscience Program trainees:

Nicole Jackman, a graduate student in the laboratory of Sandra Hewett,  received a Ruth L. Kirschstein National Research Service Award Individual Predoctoral Fellowships (F31, NIH/NINDS) as well as an Aging Research Dissertation Grant (R36, NIH/NIA) to support a portion of her stipend and her thesis project entitled “Regulation of system xc- by interleuking-1b”, respectively.

Marius Ifrim, a post-doctoral fellow in the laboratory of John Carson, who received first prize for his poster presentation during the 23rd Annual International Symposium of the Center for Study of Gene Structure & Function - Autism: Integrating Genes, Brain and Behavior, which was held on January 15th 2010 at Hunter College, City University of New York, NY. Marius’s poster, titled “The role of TOG in autism,” described research that was done in collaboration with the laboratory of Elisa Barbarese.
